Reporting an Ethics Concern
Awake is committed to treating all people with respect and compassion. All Awake leaders listed here, as well as volunteers who have direct, one-on-one contact with individual abuse survivors, have committed to this Code of Ethics.
Anyone who is concerned an Awake leader may have violated the Code of Ethics can submit a concern using this form: Awake Ethics Concern Reporting Form. If you believe anyone is in immediate danger or an action may be criminal, please contact law enforcement first.
Our goal is to ensure every reported concern is handled with compassion, fairness, clarity, and a trauma-informed approach while protecting the dignity of everyone involved.
Once you submit an ethics concern report, this is what you can expect:
We will confirm receipt of your submission within 3 business days.
We will assign a point person to be your point of contact throughout this process, who will remain in regular communication with you to keep you updated on the process and timeline, and to answer any questions you may have.
We will convene an ad hoc review committee to review your concern, with members drawn from the Executive Director or other appropriate staff members, Board Chair, and Governance Committee. This committee will not include any person you have named in your concern.
After thorough review, we will communicate the results of the process and take any appropriate action needed to address your concern.
If you have any questions about this process before submitting a report, feel free to contact Executive Director Sara Larson at saralarson@awakecommunity.org or Board Chair Patty Ingrilli at board@awakecommunity.org.
